Roman Kepczyk Among Top 25 Thought Leaders
This year’s event was sponsored by CCH, Sage and Thomson Reuters and gathered 25 of tax and accounting’s most influential practitioners, media, consultants and other experts for a three-day discussion of the state of the industry and where it’s headed. Topics discussed include strategic planning, technology, risk management, public accounting trends and more.
Congratulations, Roman, for being named one of the Top 25 Thought Leaders for the third year in a row!
Xcentric’s director of technology Jason Conger recently received Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award, which recognizes technology leaders for their outstanding involvement in both online and offline technical communities. The MVP award distinguishes Conger as one of the top contributors of technical expertise and solutions to real world issues in the worldwide Microsoft technical community of over 100 million people.
Microsoft selects new MVPs every quarter from candidates who are nominated by self, other MVPs, Microsoft employees or other members of the technical community. There are currently around 4000 MVPs representing over 90 countries, 30 languages, and almost 90 different technology areas.
Here’s what Microsoft had to say: “We present the MVP Award to thank individuals for their exceptional contributions to technical communities worldwide. MVPs give Microsoft many times more valuable feedback than others to help improve products. They are trusted, passionate and highly knowledgeable, familiar with real world solutions to issues and thus reaching out to millions of technology users.”

Xcentric Consulting Services
For some time, you have been asking us to engage your firm more significantly on the strategic and planning aspects of technology. Additionally, you’ve asked for help with budgeting, workflow, governance, and decision support. We’re happy to say now that we can serve you more broadly and deeply than ever before.
On March 1, 2011, Xcentric acquired InfoTech Partners, North America and welcomed Roman H. Kepczyk, CPA.CITP to the team to lead the Xcentric Consulting Services division. As Director of Consulting Services, Roman is focused on leveraging his 25 years of consulting and accounting industry experience to continue growing the business consulting service offerings of Xcentric.
If you’ve ever worked with Roman in any capacity, you quickly learn that he is truly a man of character and great integrity. In the realm of technology and in the accounting profession, Roman is known as one of the great strategists and advisors to the industry. In every year since 2003, he has been listed as one of the Top-10 Recommended Consultants by Inside Public Accounting. We believe in integrity and we believe in service excellence — Roman and Xcentric fit together perfectly.
Most consultants can provide the “what” of change, but rarely can they provide the “how-to” part of the equation. We believe the marriage of Roman Kepczyk/ITPNA and Xcentric will result in an unequalled set of capabilities in the accounting profession.
Citrix Partner Spotlight- Xcentric Brings Control to the Cloud
Here is an excerpt from this month’s Citrix Service Provider Newsletter, where Xcentric was featured in the Partner Spotlight:
Xcentric Brings Control to the Cloud
Xcentric is a hosting provider focused on the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) industry. Xcentric provides a turnkey solution for CPA firms that includes industry application access and updates, storage, websites, back-end infrastructure, and more. You could say we make IT disappear for CPA firms.
In order to deliver this solution, Xcentric is heavily vested in Microsoft and Citrix technologies including Citrix XenApp, Citrix XenServer, Citrix Provisioning Server, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, etc. Gluing all these components together in a multi-tenant environment can be tricky. It is of vital importance to consistently provision resources in order to maintain stability, usability and security. This is why Xcentric chose Cortex Cloud Control Panel from Citrix as a provisioning engine. Cortex Control Panel supports the Microsoft and Citrix components in our hosting infrastructure and ensures that resources are provisioned the correct way every time. Cortex also allows us to extend provisioning capability to our clients. Clients no longer have to submit requests to create, delete or update a user or to add services and applications for users. Now, the client simply launches a web-based portal and self-provisions users, services, and applications on demand.
Cortex Cloud Control Panel from Citrix has been a key component for Xcentric’s Cloud environment. By providing provisioning automation, Cortex has allowed Xcentric to consistently provision resources and eliminate human error as well as provide a greater degree of client empowerment. Cortex takes care of mundane tasks so that Xcentric can focus on building better client solutions.
MSPmentor 100: Xcentric Ranked Among Top Managed Services Providers
Xcentric was recently ranked among the world’s top 100 managed services providers (MSP) in the fourth-annual MSPmentor 100 survey. This award recognizes Xcentric’s continued growth as a leading MSP to the accounting profession.
The survey used index measurements to calculate each participant’s rank based on managed services-specific metrics, including:
- Managed services revenue
- Managed services growth
- Percentage revenue growth
- Revenue per employee
- Number of devices managed
- And other data points comparing one fiscal year to the next
As Christian James, Xcentric’s COO, put it: “We hope this, along with our growth over the years, is a testament to the value we bring to our clients. This type of recognition definitely helps fuel our desire to continue to grow and further enhance our ability to serve our clients well.”
2011 Readers’ Choice Awards: Readers Choose the Technologies They Love
“Sometimes, it makes sense to hire a specialist for certain tasks with which they may be more experienced and efficient. This is true of some tax and accounting functions, as well as many other business processes, and it doesn’t mean outsourcing it to another country. Just as accountants and estate lawyers often work together, so too do businesses often find value in using an external resource or technology for specialized functions. This year’s winner in this [Outsourced Technology Services] category is Xcentric, which offers cloud computing consulting and services to accounting firms.” – excerpt from “2011 Readers’ Choice Awards” by Isaac M. O’Bannon, The CPA Technology Advisor | Full Article
