Three Questions to Determine the State of Your Firm’s Hardware:

Have you had it for over 4 years?
Do you still run Windows XP?
Does it run on less than 1GB of RAM?

If you answered “yes” to any or all three of these questions then it’s time to replace your computer.  Here are some Dell recommendations that we have found best serve our clients.

Four Computer Fits: Administrative, Bookkeepers, Auditors and Partners

For administrative staff we recommend the OptiPlex 790 desktop:

  • Long life (4-5 years)
  • Easy to upgrade the RAM
  • Inexpensive to add multiple monitors

For bookkeepers and staff accountants we recommend the Latitude E6420 laptop:

  • 4GB RAM, Windows 7 Professional, latest Intel processor, ExpressCharge™ battery charges 80% in one hour
  • Built-to-last durability

  • Hardened tri-metal casing-anodized aluminum casing

For auditors we recommend the beefy Latitude E6520 laptop:

  • 250GB hard drive, enhanced for multi monitor, faster processor, long lasting battery, DVD Burner
  • Large screen
  • Ten Key integrated
  • 9-cell battery

For partners we recommend the Latitude E6320 laptop:

Xcentric has been serving CPA firms to provide integrated IT solutions for almost 10 years. During this time, we have gained extensive knowledge on the hardware that best meets the needs of the accounting industry.

Based on that knowledge, here are a few things we recommend:

  • Update your hardware with the options listed above
  • Take advantage of Xcentric’s discount through Dell
  • Opt for the “3-Year Next Business Day On-Site Service” with the “3-Year CompleteCare Accidental Damage Protection” to keep everyone up and working in case of a hardware failure

      • Steve C- Thanks for your comment and glad that XP is working great for you. The beauty of using the cloud is that the version of the operating system on the local computer becomes less of an importance and is more dependent upon the OS on the server. Windows 7 Pro is fully supported by Citrix and works great in the cloud. All computers that we now recommend through Dell come equipped with Windows 7 Professional.
